Basics
"She swore up and down that yesterday, I was a man. What the fuck is that? I mean, what is a 'man'"?

All that's missing from Women's World is an opening narration from Rod Serling! It's in the mold of a classic Twilight Zone episode, or, in more contemporary terms, a mind-twisting incarnation of Black Mirror. Adult Time posits an alternate universe where men no longer exist. Every man on the planet has suddenly morphed into a woman, and only a select few remember that men were ever there to begin with.

In the context of this setup, we drop in on an interconnecting series of characters and love stories, modeled on the format made famous by the films of Rob Altman and the movie Love Actually.

Scene highlight(s)
A thoughtful poignancy pervades scene four, when couple Spencer Bradley and Destiny Cruz realize they are among the very few that remember men ever existed. As they discuss this strange new world, they realize that a society without men would no longer stigmatize same-sex relationships. Even their reticent parents now will approve! Delighted in this realization of acceptance, they have passionate sex.

Scene one: Sarah (Candice Dare) and Jenn (Christy Love) are ostensibly straight but can't resist one another. In this scene, they steal away to consummate their passions. The sequence touches on the notion that many heterosexual people have same-sex attractions they feel the need to keep hidden. (The movie's final scene contains a wonderful, fascinating post-script to this couple's relationship.)

Scene two: Kenna James is engaged, but suddenly her fiancee isn't quite what she remembers As part of the movie's transformation, her spouse-to-be takes the form of Mocha Menage. Kenna is confused at first, but in the end, great sex is great sex, right?

Scene three: Sometimes the sneaky sex you think got away with may not have been so private, after all. Amber (Alison Rey) recalls a steamy moment with broadcaster Diane (Ana Foxxx) that ultimately lands both of them in hot water.

Scene five: You've never seen a family roleplay scene quite like this! Serene Siren returns home to discover her stepson is now her stepdaughter (Haley Reed). This opens up a new world of intimate possibilities for the pair! Some of the scene's best moments come in the first few minutes, when Serene is anxiously trying to figure out what's going on.

Scene six: Hair stylist Alexis Tae uses the new alternate-universe situation to confess her attraction co-worker Jewelz Blu.

Scene seven: After a series of odd run-ins with friends and clients, Morgan (Alex Coal) and Karen (Victoria Voxxx) realize something is awry. They both suddenly remember the pre-transformation world, but their hold on this truth is slippery. As their concentration fades, so does their memory, and they slide happily back into lovemaking.

Scene eight: Leslie (Casey Calvert), who has been grappling with her identity through the movie, finally realizes what's happened. She also pieces together the real story about her past and her wife, Sofia (Marica Hase). The movie winds down with cathartic sex between the two.

Quotable
"It's a really great idea. I love everybody's role in it. Everybody did such a good job. It was a really fun day on set. And I think that's the most women I've ever seen in one porn ever. [ . . . ] I really enjoy getting a script like that, where I read it and halfway through, I'm like, 'What the fuck is happening?' They're really good. The directors, the writers, the creative people behind the scenes are really good at writing some scripts." (Ana Foxxx on Women's World)

Why we love it
Like all the best science fiction and fantasy scenarios, Women's World isn't really about an alternate world. It's about our real world and the way we interact with it. The Twilight Zone scenario it presents makes us rethink and reconsider out attitude toward gender roles, relationships, and sexual orientation. It accomplishes this lofty goal all while providing a run time brimming full of lesbian sex scenes, often with dynamite actor pairings.

In addition, a lot of the movie's fun comes in moments in between the sex scenes. It's rewarding to observe little details like a hair stylist reading Playgal magazine, a sly sign of one of the small changes the gender switch has created. In an earlier scene, we glimpse Casey Calvert's driver's license from before the magical transformation, complete with a photo rendering of Calvert as a cisgendered male. We even hear references to beneficent "President Mills," an amusing nod to Adult Time's chief creative officer.

Women's World is likely to inspire a great deal of conversation and no shortage of awards attention as XBIZ and AVN nods go out.
